Why Visit a Pediatric Dentist?
Many people wonder aloud why it is so important to visit a pediatric dentist. The answer is simple – experience. While many dentists may treat children if even if they are not a primary kids’ dentist, they may lack the experience necessary to keep a child comfortable during their dental treatments. When it comes to treating children, it is not enough simply to get the job done; how it is done is equally important. At Sharma Dental Center, our team of dental professionals understands that how a child feels during their first several dental visits will ultimately influence how they react to dentistry throughout their lifetime. Having a positive experience now can set the tone for regular, ongoing dental care throughout their adult life. A scary or negative dental visit can have the opposite effect and make children not want to visit the dentist anymore. In our Dublin office, we can treat children and take active steps to ensure their physical and emotional comfort. To schedule a dental exam or to learn more, call us at (925) 833-6200.

Pediatric Dentistry Procedures
Here at our office offer a variety of pediatric dentistry procedures that can help your child to stay in outstanding oral health. While it starts with teeth cleaning and a dental exam, this is only the beginning. As a kid’s dentist office, we can also seal the teeth and complete fluoride treatments when necessary. These two procedures can help to protect and strengthen teeth so that they are less likely to get a cavity or become infected. While fast and simple, these two procedures can work together or separately to prevent your child from experiencing any unnecessary dental pain that is associated with a cavity.
If your child does get an infection or a cavity, we can treat it immediately so that they can feel comfortable again. Even baby teeth require treatment because of the discomfort that they can cause your child. Fortunately, we can work with young children of all ages. Though their teeth are smaller, the entire procedure can be completed with accuracy and precision so that they get the care they need without further complications. To help children remain comfortable and relaxed during this type of treatment, we offer sedation dentistry. This process may be as simple as providing your child with laughing gas, or if they are very young, they may need to be put to sleep while we complete the procedure. As a children's dentist, we only implement sedation when necessary. Concurrently, it is dangerous for a child to be moving around when dental tools are in their mouth. As such, it is much better for a small child to be put to sleep than risk them moving and receiving a secondary cut as a result.
As a kid’s dentist, we will discuss all of these treatment options in full detail, including the possibility of sedation with you. In this way, you can make an informed decision as to the dental work you want to have completed on your child and the timing of it. Parents prefer to postpone treating minor cavities for a few months in some cases if they feel their child may experience a developmental milestone. For instance, the child turning four years old, that may make them more prepared for the treatment. Here at Sharma Dental Center, we will work with you to ensure that both you and your child are confident in the decisions that you make together regarding their oral health care.
